Every job board looks the same because they all optimize for the same thing: filling the feed. More listings, more clicks, more retargeting. Candidates lose because the signal-to-noise ratio collapses. Employers lose because they drown in unqualified applicants.
We started Joblo with a simple bet: if you optimize for match quality instead of volume, both sides win. That means saying no to spammy postings, saying no to companies that treat candidates poorly, and saying no to features that pad engagement without adding real value.
It's slower to grow this way. It's also more honest. And when we look at our repeat-hire numbers, it's obviously working.
04·How we work
Not manifesto stuff. These four principles decide whether we ship a feature, whether we approve a listing, whether we make a hire.
One curated match beats a hundred spammy ones. Every listing is human-reviewed before it goes live.
Your time is the scarce resource. We optimize for signal, not scroll depth.
We work for candidates and employers equally. Neither wins unless both do.
We'd rather ship a rough version and learn than plan forever. The product improves weekly.
05·The story so far
Tired of the same old job boards, we started building on weekends out of a shared studio in Oakland.
A small beta went unexpectedly well. Word spread through Slack groups — we didn't spend a dollar on ads.
Raised from operators, not funds. Onboarded thirty adopters who shaped what we became.
Crossed 100K active candidates. Launched employer suite. Team of twelve, still mostly senior ICs.
Doubled our candidate base every quarter. Expanded to London, Singapore, and Berlin.
128,540 jobs, 24,300 companies, 1.8M candidates. Team of 34 across 4 offices.
Founder's cut
Four minutes with our founders on why they built Joblo, the incidents that shaped the product, and what they'd never compromise on.
"We didn't want to build another job board. We wanted to build the platform we wished existed when we were job hunting."
06·The team
Eight leaders shown here. The other 26 are just as much the reason this works — they'd rather ship than pose for portraits.
